In residency: Collectif Dust
Flux Laboratory will welcome the collective Dust to work on its new creation: "You still haven’t looked at anything!"
This piece weaves a web between feminist theory, queer theory and contemporary dance to unveil the fluidity of gender, sexuality and identity. This creation offers a performance in which bodies, movements and frames of perception are intertwined to deconstruct the hierarchy upon which the gender system depends. It invites, through an aesthetic of fragmentation, to bring (back) to the fore the invisible ambiguities and discomforts of corporal norms of gender, from matter. Through reiteration, transformation and crescendo, the piece prompts us to rethink the concept of gender in an infinite horizon, beyond a binary substantialist vision. Movement becomes a subversive act that transforms the relationship to the body. By playing with the body’s plasticity and the very idea of substance, this piece shifts our way of looking at standardized corporealities. All in all, this creation invites us to contemplate the gender horizon through the prism of identities in motion.
