Ushio Amagatsu - Talk

Ushio Amagatsu - Talk

Thursday, Novembre 6, 7pm
FLUX Laboratory

Sonia Schoonejans is a dancer. And a writer. Since 2001, she has been teaching dance history at the Centre de formation à l’enseignement de la danse et de la musique (CEFEDEM) in Nantes. Also guest speaker, it's in the FLUX Laboratory that she presented Ushio Amagatsu's work and his company Sankai Juku.

Sankai Juku is one of the most famous companies of dance Butô, formed in 1975 by Ushio Amagatsu and still steered by him. This dance style approaches the Japanese contemporary dance "post-Hiroshima" - a dance to express the indescribable, the suffering and the choice to build on these atomic ashes, a body language to find, in the depths of beings, a common sense, a humanistic universality.

The personal style of the Sankai Juku company and its particular aesthetics are diffused around the world, thanks to international tours as well as workshop and master classes given in France, in Japan and elsewhere.

The realisation of the programm around Ushio Amagatsu and Sankai Juku company is a production of the ADC.

Presentation of the event by Claude Ratzé, Artistic Director of ADC
